Endless fight against acne featuring Dermalene

I suppose working as a doctor can never be without stress and sleep deprivation. With baby Bing recently down with a virus and being cranky, my acne problem has gotten the better of me. And these Dermalene products came just in time to the rescue!

This anti acne series is really light weight and suitable for travelers. Both the facial wash and toner come in 30ml packaging. Great for me who tend to leave my usual skincare products at home because it's just too much to carry around. Pump the bottle once and you will get just the right amount to wash your face. Pump twice to spray the toner then pat dry with your hand. As simple as that!

Among the important acne fighting ingredients available in the skincare product includes

1. Salicylate
It exfoliates and prevent comedone formation. It also reduces inflammation. The only downside is that one should avoid using this if pregnant (category C) this means that there's no research done so we can't be sure whether it will be harmful to pregnancy. Can be used if benefit outweighs harm.

2. Witch hazel
This contains tannin which also reduces inflammation, minimises pores and improves oily skin (astringent).

3. Tea tree oil
It's an antibacterial and further purifies the skin

4. Jojoba oil
It moisturises and balances out the dryness while treating and the process of achieving oil balance in the skin.

The verdict after two week's use.
Before
Despite applying benZoic peroxide (also pregnancy category C) watch the ugly inflamed acne :(

After 2 weeks
A much happy and shine free face. The inflamed bits all disappeared :)

All in all, happy about the anti-inflammatory effect. Really like the clean faced feeling after each use. And not dehydrating to the skin.  Would be perfect if the set comes with a moisturiser or sunscreen. Highly recommended to those troubled by acne. Visit Dermalene to find out more!

Best sungai Lembing noodles in kuantan-Bubbles restaurant

Ask around the locals and you will find this hidden gem. It's just located next to Jalan Besar but it just looks humble.

Normal hawker stall but amazing dry noodles! Blanched just to perfection- springy noodles with caramel sauce and a hint of awesome pork lard.

Look at the soft tofu! I'm amazed by how they maintain the shape yet making the tofu so soft and fillings so fragrantly pan fried.

Take the noodles with their signature chili sauce- heavenly combination. There are also other Yong tau foo ingredients available.

Their curry just looks too sinfully coconut milky great!

Our verdict-8.5/10!

Sumo Steamboat kuantan

This restaurant opened around a year ago. Remember we were very impressed about the freshness of the ingredients, fragrance of the soup and the homemade dumplings and meat balls. We went as a big group of colleagues at work. So this year we decided to try again with our house mate.

The first thing we realised was that there was seemingly much less crowd. The service was equally good though. Baby friendly.

First, choose the soup base- radish, black pepper or tomyum (can choose up to 2). I would say that we were actually fairly disappointed this time round. The soup was bland, not how we remembered it.

Look at the variety of ingredients that one can savor.

Many types of mushrooms and vegetables.

Seafood- squid, brown squid, prawns, fish
No more scallops and mussels anymore this time.

Freshly made meat balls, wonton and dumplings. Still as good.

Marinated meat slices for BBQ

Our own mini BBQ pit with individual fume hood. Despite that, we still smelled so smokey.

However, we were disappointed by the taste in general. It was unrivaled by any other buffet steamboat restaurant but was no longer able to maintain the same quality.

Priced at RM39.90 per pax.

Our verdict 5/10 (really hope we can find the old taste)

Remedy for backache featuring Jonlivia Activ Hotbelt V2

Over the years, I have done quite some damage to my lower back. Performing procedures on patients when bending forward, pushing patients' trolley etc (occupational hazard but unfortunately the awareness about back care and occupational health is not so strong here). After delivering baby Bing, the problem became worse. Having to breastfeed him, often long hours in a row when he was younger, put me in a crouched position most of the time. That's when my back ache really becomes a problem.

So, how can we manage backache without resorting to painkillers?

Firstly, observe back care etiquettes. Physiotherapy is an established and effective way to relieve pain and prevent further injuries. Read this article from NZ physiotherapy association.

Based on these principles, Jonlivia Activ Hotbelt V2 should work wonders for back pain. The science behind it is tourmaline- a gem stone that emits Far Infrared Radiation (FIR) when in contact with skin. The interesting thing is that since our skin is warm, the tourmaline woven fabric actually absorbs FIR from our skin then reemits as heat.

Therefore, this belt does not need an additional energy source.  And that's why it takes time to heat up. It's very similar to the concept of sauna. Studies have shown promising results in reduction of pain and weight loss. For those who wants to read more about the science behind this.

I really like the belt because it's light. When worn, the steel bars provided support to the lower back to maintain good posture.

I wore it underneath my t shirt and could barely made it out.

As the belt heated up, it did so gradually and I first felt a tingly sensation around 5 to 10 minutes. It got really hot after 30 minutes. I realised the hotter or wetter my skin was, the faster it took to heat up. I took the belt off after an hour because the heat became a bit overwhelming just like why we can't stay in the sauna for too long.

There's red marks around my waist but it faded shortly after that.  Don't worry if you sweat because the components can be wiped in plain water.

The verdict- I woke up with a back ache and it disappeared after the first use! Nice warm and fuzzy feeling around my waist afterwards. The pain relief and the warm effect lasted at least the whole day.

It's really interesting. Try it out now!

Hair loss is one of the most traumatic side effects that most chemo patients face, especially female and child patients. To overcome this traumatic experience, wigs are usually the best choice while waiting for their hair to grow back. Unfortunately, amidst all the cost of cancer treatments, a RM800 wig may be out of reach. In line with its tagline Look Great Feel Greater, the Locks of Hope Hair Donation Campaign is brought to Malaysians by MMIS Professional to provide a platform for Malaysians to donate their hair to be turned into wigs for cancer patients who are going through chemotherapy. (Locks of Hope Facebook Page)

In addition to donating hair, UG International hair care products will be sold at discounted price while the profits made during the event will be donated to Locks of Hope for charity purposes.

Hair requirement:
Length: At least 6 inch/15cm.

The Regalia residence-comfort and style under one roof

Honestly , we wouldn't have stayed at the Regalia if sunway putra hotel was not fully booked for the conference. But we had an amazing experience there!

Location central. Covered walkway provided. One has to walk up a flight of windy and narrow staircase to access the walkway though. No wheelchair access. Within walking distance to sunway putra mall and hotel, pwtc.

Security is adequate. Guards placed at each entrance, even entrance to the swimming pool. But the guards were not strict. Didn't question visitors. Access card is needed to enter separate floors. The lobby is located on 4th floor. A very resort-like holiday feeling with tiny fountains scattered. Has an outdoor swimming pool as well.

We stayed on the 23rd floor. Amazing view overlooking the other units. A bit disappointed that the studio unit had no balcony but there are floor to ceiling windows installed. Lifts are fast and spacious.

The unit is clean. The owner also provides cutleries, crockeries, microwave, huge fridge, stove and washing machine. There's a small wardrobe with bars to hang stuff. The double bed is clean and the linen smell fresh.

Look at the infinity pool. For guys, this is the place to spot bikini clad women. Lol. Almost all the infinity pools in kl now have klcc and kl tower as the backdrop.
Afternoon view

Night view

This is all at RM250 per night.
We rate it 7.5/10
