Tackling Face Mask Skin Problem | Cetaphil Skincare Range

 Face mask wearing protects us against this deadly COVID 19 pandemic. However, wearing masks for long duration without proper skincare routine can wreck havoc on our skin. Common issues are acne, skin peeling, rashes and even pressure injuries! The American Academy of Dermatology Association has an excellent article listing tips to prevent face mask skin concerns.

I have combination skin which verges on oiliness. There are visible enlarged pores and a reflective complexion, due to excessive sebum around the T-zone. However my cheeks can be dry! This results in acne and peeling skin at the same time which has been worsening with prolonged PPE wearing at work. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is effective at removing excess oil, dirt as well as light makeup. Double cleansing using an oil-based makeup remover before cleanser is needed for heavy, waterproof makeup.

Regular exfoliation helps to unclog pores and removes dead skin cells. This is important for oily and combination skin. Besides using gentle facial scrubs/clay masks, I use an electric silicon cleanser gently. Exfoliation should be done only 1-2/week initially and can be slowly increased to daily once tolerated to avoid irritation.
